Sandia Sunrise |

As
a youth, I remember my father driving us all out to the west side of
Albuquerque to a rest stop locally known as
Nine Mile Hill. We would go in the evening and sit in the car and just
watch the city lights. It was especially a treat for me to see the
sparkling shining sea below me as an 8-year-old. Even now, at 43, I
still love the lights of Albuquerque. Although the Nine Mile Hill exit
has long been closed down and the city lights have expanded far beyond
what I deem to be natural, I still like to see them from above. During
the past year, I’ve been able to do so through the sport of ballooning
and every Sandia Sunrise
takes me right back to Nine Mile Hill and the
lights of the city I love. |
