I
have an affinity for ruins, ancient and modern. I am always on the
lookout for abandoned buildings, worn and neglected by civilization and
time. Each has a story to tell that few, if any, know. Yet they stand
as a testament to an era, eon, or epoch, long gone. Some stand the test
of time, like the temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, or Mesa Verde, in
southwestern Colorado. Others have only a road sign like Waldo, New
Mexico, or Skiddoo, California. Even the abandoned Garage
may no longer be standing. I saw it once in my travels some years ago
and have not come across it since, but it beckoned to me then as it
beckoned me to honor its image as the first acrylic print I have ever
made. |
